It was an early Sunday morning and our weekend camping getaway was sadly coming to a close. We were camping at one of our favorite spots located right on the bay. As usual, I was up early listening to the birds’ morning chatter. I wasn’t planning on paddling that morning but when my husband saw that I was up and awake, he eagerly asked me if I was going for a paddle. Well, what else could I say but yes and I’m so glad I did. We tiptoed our way out of the tent so as to not wake our son or any of the other campers. Our campsite was nestled right by the water which allowed for spontaneous paddling as well as spectacular sunsets.
The waters of the bay were like glass that morning. It was truly a mesmerizing sight. Oh, how glad I was that we decided to get up and greet the day on the water. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect morning. We paddled for a while exploring the area and soaking in everything around us. There wasn’t another soul on the water except for a lone fisherman that appeared as we rounded the nearest bend.
We finally took a break from paddling and as we drifted along, we enjoyed each other’s company in the stillness of the morning. I was filled with a sense of awe and deep gratitude. There was a peace that came over me. A silence that engulfed me. I soaked it up and didn’t want to let it go. Especially in times like today, a respite from all the division, hatred, and violence is very much needed.

Serenity describes the feeling you get when paddling on the water. It’s an indescribable emotion to be so fully immersed in nature. I hope you’ve felt a little inspired maybe intrigued to find this type of serenity or stillness in your life. It’s out there and most definitely on the water. My hope is to share my many paddling adventures with you and hope to get you on the water too, maybe even with me! Until next time…
Peace, love, and happy paddling!
I’m convinced. I definitely need more of this in my life:)
I agree Megan! I look forward to getting out on the water with you!
